Iimoriyama

Mt. Iimori is where 19 young Byakkotai (lit. “White Tiger Brigade”) samurai died. This  tourist spot has many stone steps, but you can reach the summit by taking two moving walkways and climbing the last 45 steps.

Airplane  (Approx. 90 minutes by car from Fukushima Airport to the Aizuwakamatsu Interchange)
Train  Taxi (10 minutes) from Aizuwakamatsu Station
Car  Approx. 12 minutes from the Aizuwakamatsu Interchange on the Banetsu Expressway via National Route 49
Bus
From Aizuwakamatsu Station on the JR Banetsu West Line, take the Aizu Loop Bus for Tsuruga-jo/Iimoriyama (approx. 4 minutes). Mt. Iimori is right near the bus stop.
*Temporary parking on the local road outside the entrance to Mt. Iimori is allowed, but may be difficult when congested.

Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center is closed during winter (early December to late March).
Information is available from the Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center and the ticket office for the moving walkway, which is at the start of the route. Because part of Mt. Iimori is private land, please obey the pet and litter rules.

*Wheelchairs are available for free hire from the Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center. Address: 244-5 Ushigahaka, Yahata, Ikkimachi, Aizuwakamatsu City

Temporarily parking on the local road outside the entrance to Mt. Iimori is allowed, but may be difficult when congested.

Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center (visitors' car park) This information is for the City Tourist Car Park next to the Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center, which is a 5-minute walk away.

Entrances

It is an outdoor tourist spot and has many steps along the path because it is a steep mountain. There is a moving walkway that goes part way up.

There is a fee to use the moving walkway (250 yen/adult, 150 yen/child, 150 yen/disability concession. The moving walkway is not an escalator, but a conveyor belt on an upward incline so users need to be careful not to fall backwards. Please note that the moving walkway cannot be used while seated in a wheelchair.

Be careful of steep 1 slopes.
Go along the sidewalk, part of which has tactile paving, and then cross the road to the start of the Mt. Iimori mountain path.


Please note that wheelchairs users cannot use the mountain path while seated in their wheelchairs.

There are no toilets on Mt. Iimori.
Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center is closed during winter (early December to late March), but the Multi-purpose toilets are open year-round. The nearest toilets are those listed here as well as inside the souvenir shop Kosen Koboshi at the entrance to the mountain path.
