Historic Wakamatsu Castle ruins and Tsurugajo Castle (Shiseki Wakamatsu Joshi, Tsurugajo)

Tsurugajo

Tsurugajo Castle is the symbol of Aizuwakamatsu City. Ruled by many feudal lords during the sengoku”WArring state” period and  is famous in the Boshin War in the closing days of the Tokugawa government. The castle now exhibits valuable items in the Tsurugajo Museum.

Airplane  Approx. 90 minutes by car from Fukushima Airport to the Aizuwakamatsu Interchange
Train  Taxi (10minutes) from Aizuwakamatsu Station
Car   15 minutes by car from the Aizuwakamatsu Interchange on the Banetsu Expressway
Bus
From JR Aizuwakamatsu Station catch the Haikarasan or Akabe route buses (Machinaka Shuyu Bus) and alight at the Tsurugajo Kitaguchi or Tsurugajo Sannomaruguchi bus stop. It is then a 5-minute walk.
Pets are allowed only in the castle grounds.
